The vast majority of Genie garage door openers are compatible with GarageMate.
However in 2012 and 2013, Genie shipped some garage door openers with the wall-console shown in the photo below.
If your Genie has a wall-console shown above AND it was manufactured in either 2012 and 2013 (the serial number begins with 12 or 13)
then it will not be compatible with GarageMate.
Thankfully Genie Corp. corrected this problem stating, "we concluded the previous decision to not support standard wall switches and aftermarket accessories was not in the best interest of our customers".
Genies manufactured in 2014 or later now support standard wall-switches, aftermarket accessories, AND their new "computerized/smart" wall-consoles.
Keep in mind the vast majority of Genies are manufactured prior to 2012 and after 2013 and will be compatible with GarageMate. See the wiring diagrams below. We have marked the images below with a red and white arrow that indicate where to wire GarageMate"s RED and WHITE wires.
