We've recently updated our kit with a custom PCB board that is easier to assemble and more compatible with new and old garage door openers. If you've seen the DIY video, you'll note a few changes and improvements like an integrated tactile switch and LED that illuminates through the case. Full build details are available at: hackady.io
UPDATE: February 11, 2017
The 2.2kOhm resistor is no longer included in the DIY-kit as it is not necessary. Also, our suppliers occasionally change the parts we use. The two photos below show the latest components.
Note carefully that the power supply lead that has the dashes is the positive wire. This marking is surprising given that the dash looks like a negative. It is NOT negative. Also since the insulation is thicker, there is no need to knot the wires. In addition, we changed the PCB so that it is easier to solder the LED. See photo.
You are about to order the DIY Kit that requires 20+ minutes assembly. Make sure you have an iPhone4s or later or Android with Bluetooth4.0 running Android OS v4.4 or later. Be sure to successfully install the GarageMate App v4.0 or later (not v2.1) on your phone before ordering.
Make sure your garage door opener is compatible before ordering. There should only be two wires going to your wall switch. If you short the two wires together and the door opens or closes, then it is compatible.
